1972 Ford Maverick

$11,500

1972 Ford Maverick, I’m the second owner bought from the original owner up in Fallbrook. I’ve owned the car for more than 15 years. The most recent work was the headliner due to faulty front windshield seal installation (installer tore the headliner and refused to pay for it $2500). New windshield, headliner, seals front and rear. Interior is in top notch condition except the front bench seat that was repaired but didn’t last. Front brakes were replaced this past year including new drums. I did the rear brakes a few years ago. New tires a few months ago. All brake lines were replaced, suspension, shocks, headlights and voltage regulator. etc.. under my ownership. I’ve done some tasteful upgrades, steering wheel, footwell lights (OEM parts), gauges, expensive and hard to find consolette, LED dash lights, solid state cluster voltage regulator, dash halo, correct wheel trim rings (hard to find the 14” short ones. Refreshed all the seat belts, new driver side belt retractor, it has Pertonics (no points) with uprated coil, I put a lot of time and energy into this car!

Needs a few things, paint (unless you like the patina look), the emergency cable broke, turn signal switch flickers over bumps. Front bench seat upholstery needs to be fixed. Also, could use spring isolators (I didn’t have them when I replaced the perches). It would be nice to replace the steering box as well, it works okay but I’d replace it. The heater box needs to be cleaned and resealed (defrost is sticky and hard to move).

Comes with parts: New turn signal switch, spring isolators, emergency brake cable, rear valance (nice not bent), sport mirrors (w/remote, new mirrors, new bases, these are getting very expensive), hood hinges (re-pressed), radiator rubber diverter (the flap), hood cowl rubber, interior window handles, door hinge pins, reseal kit for the heater box. Probably other stuff, I’ll have to dig around.

Why am I selling: I had a vision for the car, I waited 10 years for the inline six aluminum head and was told I was in the original group and would be notified when available (first in line). The owner of the shop ended up selling to first come first served, which was not really fair for those of us who waited all that time. I thought long and hard about the situation and it’s been really disappointing and really hard for me to get motived to continue. If I had known, I would have built a 289/302 and been done years ago. I’ve developed other interests since.

Any questions or would like to come take look let me know. I’m firm on price, it’s a no accident, original paint (except the trunk lid) CA car with no rust anywhere that I can see. It’s a nice car and I get compliments everywhere I take it. Lots of thumbs up on the freeways. I love the car but like most, its just sitting there and I’d rather someone carry it forward than sit any longer.
